From our guest: Love what you wrote about my cranberry harvesting experience! I would encourage any of your guests to try it; however, it is one of those activities you savor - you schedule it on a day that you have plenty of time. For me, I could have spent even more time but I know I might be the EXCEPTION!

As I was preparing our Thanksgiving meal (with many cranberry dishes made from my harvested cranberries - HOW COOL IS THAT?!), I was flooded with memories of our trip. I think this is one of the added benefits of incorporating real-life experiences into our travels.

Thanks for so thoughtfully sharing my experience on your blog :-)

Fondly,
Marcia

Hello! We too grew up going to Brewster and the Hopkins Cottages! We miss them so much and it was a shame to see them torn down. We still try to go to the area because we love the bay and investigating the tide pools! I am glad to hear so many others share the same memories as we do!

That is a great story. Something called fate brought those two couples to your inn on this emotional weekend. I hope the man who lost his brother was helped by this chance meeting.

We tried to launch today in the Wellfleet Ponds, off Schoolhouse Rd... but all of the launch sites we found have strict regulations posted requiring a Town of Wellfleet sticker, and threatening towing for violators. Not very welcoming to kayakers!
It's a summer regulation, but not many of us get down to Wellfleet in the winter.

On a happier note, we can highly recommend the Bay side of the Pamet. We put in just past the Post Office, and went all the way out to the outer harbor in time for sunset. Truly magnificent, especially on a flood tide.

I love kayaking on Cape Cod! It is my favorite way to spend a peaceful summer day. Like you, one of my favorite places to kayak is on Scorton Creek. I had the best experience renting a kayak from RideAway Kayak in Sandwich; I would seriously recommend it to anyone interested. It was so easy; they delivered the boats and had a wide selection for my entire family! It was a great way to experience the beauty of the Cape!

Frank, We were there from 1956 into the mid-60s. Always for 2 weeks, different cottage each time. Loved when the Cushman's Bakery truck pulled up and delivered those yummy cupcakes with the fabulous frostings. Always walked up for a soft serve ice cream at the top of the street and sometimes down to the gas station to get an orange crush soda or a grape nehi from the soda dispenser (in real glass bottles).
